The external specialists usually work either as freelancers or as employees, e.g. on behalf of a management consultancy. The range of tasks of IT consultants is very diverse and includes, amongst others, the development of entire IT strategies as well as the planning and implementation of software and hardware solutions. They mainly deal with requirements analyses, quality assurance, the calculation of costs and ROIs, the preparation of recommendations for the management board, training courses and quality control.

Training of IT Consultants

In Austria, there is no standardized training for IT consultants. IT consultants usually have a school education in IT or have studied business informatics or software engineering. Natural scientists with additional business training also work as IT consultants.
